Year-End Evaluation & Reflection Resources

As we come to the end of the year, it’s a valuable time to reflect on the work God has done in 2023 and look forward to the work he will do in 2024. We wanted to remind you of some important resources that can aid you in evaluation and reflection of your sending efforts:

Simple Annual Review of Missionaries: This editable document provides a place for churches to start in their review of their missionaries. Take this template and make it your own. Go over it with your missionaries. Don’t use this review as a hammer to crush them but as an opportunity for celebration and recalibration of the work of your missionaries.

360 Reviews: This is a unique exercise for evaluating your missionaries. Consider utilizing this review alongside one of your missionary’s team members to provide a view into how their life and ministry is impacting those they serve alongside.

Letting Go of Partners: There is no doubt that at some point in your missions leadership you will have to end a partnership. How do you do that in a way that honors the partner and also gives clarity regarding the change? This blog post offers advice on how to navigate this challenge in a healthy manner.

Reflecting as a Missions Leader: Reflection and evaluation are not only for the missionary—they’re also important practices for the missions leader. How are you doing at stewarding the role God has entrusted to you? Check out this blog post for a guide on how to reflect as a missions leader.

Evaluation & Reflection Upstream Page: This page has all of the resources Upstream has put together on evaluation and reflection.

Take the time and energy to reflect on and evaluate the work of your church and your missionaries. Providing this touchpoint will strengthen the relationship with your missionary and will encourage and admonish them and your church towards greater things for the Lord in the coming year.
