Sending Pathways

Upstream provides three distinct pathways for churches to send mid and long-term cross-cultural missionaries.

Field Network (Primary Pathway)

Field Network is Upstream’s primary sending pathway, designed for missionaries who want to serve mid and long-term on established teams/churches in strategic global locations. These teams are led by trusted, experienced leaders who provide mentorship, accountability, and support, helping missionaries thrive in cross-cultural ministry.

We currently have 9 Field Network locations in North Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, Nepal, Japan, France, and Italy.

Church-Specific Sending

Keep your church’s global partnerships strong. This pathway allows local churchs in the Sending Network to send missionaries to serve with the global partners they already know and support. We help maintain alignment in mission strategy and theology while equipping churches to remain deeply engaged throughout the missionary journey.

Marketplace

For professionals who are called to live and work cross-culturally, the Marketplace pathway integrates ministry with vocation. Whether it’s teaching, business, healthcare, or technology, these missionaries live on mission while working in their chosen profession—often with greater access and sustainability in hard-to-reach places.

Unified by Alignment and Vision

No matter the pathway, all of Upstream’s sending efforts are grounded in a shared theological foundation, common missiological values, and healthy field practices. We ensure your church and your missionaries are supported every step of the way.

Change the culture of missions

We envision a generation of churches reclaiming their place in the Great Commission. Through equipping and sending, we aim to see a global movement of healthy sending churches that embody God’s call to make disciples of all nations.

So come along.
