Short-term Trips Cohort Spring 2024

For a Sending Church, short-term trips can be an incredible piece of the long-term vision of an overseas partnership when done rightly. When poorly executed, they can be harmful for the field, the goer, the nationals and the church. This cohort will focus on principles for sending great short-term teams. 

This cohort will be led by Dave Childers who is the Director of the Sending Network for Upstream Sending. He was a mission pastor for many years serving in several churches in the states. Over the years Dave has led many short term trips with his churches. We will also have Larry McCrary, Co-founder and President of The Upstream Collective. Larry and his wife have over  20 years of overseas experience.  Larry has been the recipient of many short term teams. The leaders offer an unique perspective of the Sending Church and the receiving field. 

The cohort runs February - April 2024. Participants will meet 3 times for two hours each session: 

*Intro Session February 6, 10 - 11 am EDT

Session One - Making sure the Receiving team is ready    Tuesday, Feb. 20, 10 - noon EDT Asking the right questions with your receiving partner before you go 

Session Two - Making sure the Short Term is ready    Tuesday, March 12, 10 -  noon EDT Equipping the Short Term team

 

Session Three - Making sure the Goer is ready and debriefed upon return    Tuesday, April 9, 10 -12 noon EDT Providing the right training for the goers (head, heart and hands)

On top of each session, members will have 3 one-hour individual coach calls with Larry over the course of those few months. The cost of the cohort is: $750 for the first church member to sign up.
